Anti-Drug Legislation

RICH: We need to decrease the demand for drugs to control drug traffic. Meanwhile, we need to control our borders even if it interferes with commercial traffic. For instance, if we searched all vehicles at the Mexican border, vehicles would be backed up for miles. Mexico would be forced to prosecute drug offenders in Mexico or to help in the drug interdiction effort.

We need to release non-violent drug offenders from prison and enroll them in drug rehab programs.

I am convinced that we need to decriminalize marijuana, but I am a long way from acceptance of decriminalization for hard drugs. Like alcohol, addiction is lifelong, but much deeper and persistent for drugs like heroin and cocaine. Those addictions are tragedies for the people involved. We could have useful programs to control the addictions of known addicts on a local level with federal cooperation. Legislation may be necessary to override criminal law on controlled substances.

I will consider any legislation that creates an opportunity to decrease hard drug use. Drugs are mentally, physically and socially unhealthy. (Top of Page)

I Pledge to be Self Term-Limited to Two Terms in Office: Four Years

RICH STEVENSON, dist03ky@cs2pr.us

-----------------------------------------------

To preserve freedom and our democratic republic we must elect new people to public office, as often as possible, and with as many newly elected private citizens as possible.

Elect "Rich." You win. We all win. Rich is on your ballot for KY District Three Representative to the U.S. Congress on November 06, 2018. You must be proactive in this election campaign to have your voice heard in the U.S. Congress.

Elect nonpartisan independent candidates on your ballot. We all win if you apply term limits in the voting booth to all Incumbent public office holders. Career politicians do harm to our dreams of freedom and a democratic republic. As the years pass, incumbent politicians serve only their political party and other special interests that support their personal political ambitions.

13. Reduce Crime

Excerpt: The 20 Point Action Plan to Revitalize America, The Natural Law Party, 2000 Presidential  Platform (John Hagelin).

We support effective crime prevention programs, including 1) drug and alcohol rehabilitation, 2) increased community policing, and 3) targeting those who are at highest risk of committing future crimes: the current inmate population: use effective criminal rehabilitation, education, vocation, and drug prevention programs. We will cut our burgeoning prison population in half by decriminalizing nonviolent drug offenses, directing such offenders to drug education, prevention and rehabilitation programs. We would impose a moratorium on the death penalty unless and until our criminal justice system demonstrates its ability to impose this harshest of all sentences justly and fairly.
