Reader takes about 15 seconds to download to your hard drive, even on a dial up. Reader is needed to access Adobe Acrobat files linked on this page.

Last Election 2010:

ON the Ballot as Green Party Candidate, Feb 2010: Obtained the Green Party endorsement for Congress OH1. Obtained the 25 valid signatures needed early in February 2010. Rich was on the General Election ballot on November 02, 2010.

2012 Status: The 2012 petition has not been created. The petition will be created very early in the election cycle. Petitions will be ready for use by Summer 2011. The earlier the better. The page below discusses the situation prior to February 2012.

Note: I have some ideas for making the most of the 2012 election year for Independents. We will use Election Day participants to ask for votes at the polls on Election Day, etc. Town Hall Election Day Politics.

NOTE: The Presidential year Petition deadline (March) is two months earlier than the Gubernatorial year deadline (May). A Suit needs to be filed in the 6th District, Federal Court. A successful suit could move the petition deadline for all Independent and minor party candidates for Federal office to the same August petition deadline established in Federal Court for the Office of President. The same Federal suit could also become a precedent to sue to make the petition deadline the same August date for all independent and minor party candidates for Ohio statewide and legislative Public offices.

Unofficial Facts about the 2012 OH 1 petitions. We will need about 1,940 valid signatures (1,675 was the official 2006 number of valid signatures needed). The unofficial number of valid signatures needed is based upon 1% of the votes cast in the last, 2010, OH 1 election year. 1% of 193,976 votes cast in 2010, or 1%, is 1,940.

The candidates for the monopoly parties, Democratic and Republican, need to get only 50 valid signatures to qualify to be on the ballot. Very easy.

An independent, like Rich, like you, needs to get 38.8 times as many valid signatures to qualify to be on the ballot. That is 3,880% more valid signatures. We non-partisan independents need many more signatures. That is not equal protection under the law for non-partisan independents. You and me.

80% Valid: Not every signature we get will be a valid signature. If 80% are valid, a very high number of valid signatures, we will need to turn in 2,425 total signatures, which is equal to 121.25 full petition sheets.

50% Valid: A reasonable percentage of valid signatures for pubic signature collection, we will need to turn in 3,880 total signatures, which is equal to 194.00 full petition sheets.

Our Goal: 65% valid signatures. We will need to turn in 2,985 total signatures, which is equal to 149.25 full petition sheets. (28 more full sheets than 80% valid requires.)

We will have five hundred petition sheets on hand to distribute to our petition circulator team. Each sheet has 20 signature lines, or enough sheets to contain 10,000 signatures. We can turn in a maximum of 5,820 signatures. We can make many mistakes. But we still need to "git 'er done."

We could spoil, lose, or otherwise not use 350 petition sheets and still have enough total signatures. We need enough total signatures to fill 149 petition sheets plus 5 valid signatures on a 150th sheet. Our 2,985 total signature goal could be done with 30 circulator's who get 100 signatures or 299 circulators who get 10 signatures

Ten signatures from close friends, neighbors, and family you know to be registered voters is a terrific contribution. Those signatures would have a very high validity rate of 80% or more. A little effort means a lot for ballot access. Please make some effort.

Could you take a single sheet? Get 10 signatures or up to 20 signatures?

The petitions will be ready to distribute this Summer 2011. You can drop by to pick up copies. Telephone ahead to 513-251-3155, to pick up copies. Or leave your name and phone number. I Pledge to be Self Term-Limited to Two Terms in Office: Four Years

RICH STEVENSON, dist1oh@cs2pr.us

-----------------------------------------------

To preserve fragile freedom and our democratic republic we must elect new people to public office, as often as possible, and with as many newly elected private citizens as possible.

When elected, Rich will work night and day for a more democratic republic. Vote for "Rich." You win. Rich will be on your ballot for OH District One Representative to the US Congress in November 2012.

Elect non-partisan independent candidates on your ballot. We all win if you apply term limits in the voting booth to all Incumbent public office holders. Career politicians do harm to our dreams of freedom and a democratic republic. As the years pass, career politicians serve only their political party and other special interests that support their personal political ambitions.
