Improving Education

Rich: I would eliminate the college loan system in order to invest directly in the educational future of our children.

I will work to pass a bill to fully fund all four-year college and technical college tuition on a competitive, affirmative-action basis. The cost would be "$25 billion"* per year, which would be deducted from the $300+ billion spent annually on corporate welfare. Motivation: With this possibility in place, all of our brightest children would be motivated toward scholarship all through school, K-12. Our youths would prepare themselves to attend college with the certainty they can attend college without burdening their parents or without the foreboding prospect of paying off large life-altering college loans. Greater preparation would greatly improve results.

This program would promote a leveling of the playing field for all of our children. Our country would be greatly enriched by a better-educated citizenry.

I do not approve of K-12 vouchers. We should improve results obtained through public education systems. Internet programmed learning has proven  to be a means to improve outcomes. The solutions already exist in math and the sciences. Computer tools need further development in other areas of study. Motivation to learn in public schools is the answer. Higher spending is not connected directly to results. Creative innovation is connected to results.

I Pledge to be Self Term-Limited to Two Terms in Office: Four Years

RICH STEVENSON, dist1oh@cs2pr.us

-----------------------------------------------

To preserve freedom and our democratic republic we must elect new people to public office, as often as possible, and with as many newly elected private citizens as possible.

Elect "Rich." You win. We all win. Rich is on your ballot for OH District One Representative to the U.S. Congress on November 06, 2012. Your non-partisan voice will be heard in the U.S. Congress.

Elect non-partisan independent candidates on your ballot. We all win if you apply term limits in the voting booth to all Incumbent public office holders. Career politicians do harm to our dreams of freedom and a democratic republic. As the years pass, incumbent politicians serve only their political party and other special interests that support their personal political ambitions.

3. Strengthen Education

We still need to improve K-12 education to be competitive in the world of 2012.

Excerpt: The 20 Point Action Plan to Revitalize America, The Natural Law Party, 2000 Presidential Platform (John Hagelin).

Our educational outcomes have fallen to all-time lows in comparison to other nations. We will showcase and promote the most effective educational innovations proven to boost educational outcomes, taken from America's most successful public and private schools. We believe the teaching of our children should be an honored profession with commensurate compensation. We would raise teacher salaries by $10,000 per year through a program of block grants to the states. This would foster greater competition for teaching positions, thereby promoting higher standards. We support school vouchers to expand school choice and to provide sound alternatives for children trapped in schools that are chronic under-performers. And we support education, job training and apprenticeship programs to prepare all Americans to compete in today's fast-paced economy, fully harnessing our most precious national resource: the unlimited intelligence and creativity of our 270 million citizens.
