ELECTION DAY: November 06, 2018 RICH STEVENSON CANDIDATE FOR KY 3 U.S. Congress Equal Political Speech U.S. Amendmemt |

Saving Social Security Rich: I am over 62 years old and receive social security as my only retirement income. My first check was scheduled for March 2004. If I have to I will be working one of those "new jobs" in McDonald's even after I "retire." I worked for 22 years in contract engineering work, so I have no other retirement. My IRA's were taken by the IRS in interest and penalties on overdue taxes. This was before the IRS allowed easy ways to set up installment agreements. I was afraid of losing my house. My contract employers gave me bad advice on payroll deductions. Mine is just one of many sad IRS stories. (Top of Page) Put Congress on Social Security: This is a pet legislative priority of mine. I most certainly will attempt to convert million dollar congressional retirements to retirements under Social Security. Million-dollar retirements for congressional retirees should not and never should have existed. I will sponsor a bill to put all persons who serve in or who have served in Congress on Social Security and Medicare. I will write the bill to make it apply to all those who have retired from Congress, as well as to future Congressional retirees. There
will be less motivation for corrupt career politicians to stay in Congress and
be bought by special interest favors and money. Good riddance to a bad political
tradition.
If I can get that bill passed, I will make it
retroactive, to apply to all people who have served in Congress. Would there be any changes in Social Security legislation?
Yes, there would be substantial changes in Congressional attitudes. I will protect Social Security and Medicare. I like the idea of expanding Medicare to include persons 55-65 who have no medical insurance. The beneficiary would purchase the coverage.
That is one good idea advocated by former President Bill Clinton.
Medicare should be means tested to exclude millionaires, unless we go to a
one-payer medical system. I think all legislators should live under the same laws as every other citizen. | |||

4. Cut Taxes Excerpt: The 20 Point Action Plan to Revitalize America, The Natural Law Party, 2000 Presidential Platform (John Hagelin). We will cut taxes responsibly: while protecting Social Security and Medicare and paying down the national debt: through reduction of government waste and fraud, and through cost-effective solutions to costly social problems, such as spiraling health costs, crime, and our energy dependence on foreign oil. -----------------------------------------------
