Balanced Budget Amendment

Steve Chabot Says, "Most of what goes on in this town [Washington DC] involves taking and spending other people's money. That's what we do here in Congress; that's what the President and the bureaucrats do; and that's certainly what the legions of high priced lobbyists devote their energies to."

Rich Stevenson Says, MOVE TO AMEND THE U.S. CONSTITUTION

-----------------------------------------------

The Steves' Money: From the above I see that Steve Chabot appears to understand the problem. His campaign had about $1,000,000.00 from various lobbyist or PAC related contributions in his 2000 campaign. Do contributors influence the Steves? We both know the common sense answer is yes. There is the appearance of influence on every vote that favors campaign donors. In 2008 and 2010 the money was up to the nearly $2,000,000 level for both Steve  Driehaus and Steve Chabot. 2012 will be no different. One less Steve this year.

Rich: I understand the problem. I support the Balanced Budget Amendment as a top priority to control excessive spending. I support a Presidential line item veto. I am a fiscal conservative. I disagree with the two major parties over what the spending priorities should be in Congress. The only effective budget will be supported by campaign finance reform, that will limit political contributions and in-kind expenditures to support from voters who can vote for the candidate who receives the contribution. Can't vote, can't contribute. Only human citizens can vote, not special interests. No corporation or union could make any contribution to any political campaign. We can end bribes that corrupt Congress.

MOVE TO AMEND THE U.S. CONSTITUTION

The less than $1000 I spent on my 2000 campaign was entirely from voters in OH 1. I will not owe any favors to special interests or lobbyists due to campaign contributions. All of my campaign money will come from individual citizens, voters.

During the 2000 campaign, $25 to $27 were the largest contributions. My 2012 campaign will also accept only voter campaign contributions. I have contributions of $180 already. I hope to get 100,000 $1 micro payment  contributions on PayPal from voters to raise $90,000 net. 20,000 $5 contributions would raise $94,000.  Some of that money will be used for print and broadcast ads, and some for mailing postcard flyers to voters. I want to get over 34% of the vote, not just one-percent (1-%) as in the 2000 and 2010 general elections. In a four candidate election, just 34% of the vote could possibly win the election.  With 40%, we could definitely win! I want to represent you in the U.S. Congress. I pledge to make every vote I cast count for you and all the people of District One.

I will vote for the tightest Balanced Budget Amendment to the U.S. Constitution on the floor of Congress. I will co-sponsor any needed amendment to get it to the floor for a vote.

LINE ITEM VETO to CUT SPENDING

In addition, to block the lobbyist pork that gets through I will work to attain an unlimited line item veto for the office of President. A two-thirds vote would then be necessary to pass wasteful spending items hidden in a good bill and line-item vetoed by the President. No harm would be done to the balance of powers, but restraint would be imposed upon the wild spending habits of Congress, which are often used to pay back campaign contributors with legislative favors that produce little or no public benefit.

Do not worry Steve, when I go to Congress I will restrain spending. Unlike "George W." my compassion for the people will be real, for every citizen. Every dollar I vote to spend will benefit every citizen in District One. (Top of Page)

Balanced Budget Amendment: If given the opportunity, I will vote for a reasonably crafted balanced budget amendment to the U.S. Constitution. I will introduce the amendment if no one else does: "The budget of the United State of America will be balanced for each fiscal year, with the one lone exception of being at war with unfriendly forces operating within the borders of the United States of America," or words to that effect. (Top of Page)

I Pledge to be Self Term-Limited to Two Terms in Office: Four Years

RICH STEVENSON, dist1oh@cs2pr.us

-----------------------------------------------

To preserve freedom and our democratic republic we must elect new people to public office, as often as possible, and with as many newly elected private citizens as possible.

Elect "Rich." You win. We all win. Rich is on your ballot for OH District One Representative to the U.S. Congress on November 06, 2012. Your non-partisan voice will be heard in the U.S. Congress.

Elect non-partisan independent candidates on your ballot. We all win if you apply term limits in the voting booth to all Incumbent public office holders. Career politicians do harm to our dreams of freedom and a democratic republic. As the years pass, incumbent politicians serve only their political party and other special interests that support their personal political ambitions.
