Meet the IV

A good friend sent me a video of a man who was preaching that “prayer” is the way to heal America. Nothing was said about healthcare or who is to blame for the Pandemic, certainly not God. My answer to her was in two texts, one initial, and the other upon further reflection. We pray with our lives. Good works.

The 1st: “I am pretty secular. That is not my way of praying. In my world we pray with the way we live our lives. And the way we speak to others. And the way we speak to ourselves. I am praying all the time in my own way. We all need to pray in this time of great national crisis. I do pray with you for healing America. Thanks.”

The 2nd: “Prayer most effective is to simply wear a mask everywhere, do social distancing, follow Public Health Guidelines. We can pray like that and defeat the virus, which is so very contagious. Test, trace, isolate, and encourage every American to pray in that manner. That is the prayer that will heal America. That is God acting through us. Pray with me. Heal our land. Ask everyone to pray. Other nations have reduced the spread rate below "one" (1.0) doing just that. Do what works. God will bless us all in that way. Amen.”

What we do and what we say in politics is also a sort of prayer. There I need to act too. I need to speak to others, to vote, and to do good works to heal our national political divide. The rule of law and common sense are the best guides to political solutions. “We must become proactive good citizens.”

We must take power from (and within) the D and R parties to have open elections so all voters have a vote in all elections. Elect populist candidates voters put on the ballot to defeat establishment D and R candidates. Occupy Elections. Everybody Vote! “We must become proactive good citizens to have a voice in public policy.”
